PERU

LIVING, BREATHING ANDEAN CULTURE

We have no doubts that Peru is on the bucket list of many, thanks to the allure of Machu Picchu. There are numerous archaeological sites to be explored as you walk on ancient incañan (Inca trails) towards ruins and terraced fields in the Andean foothills. The cloud forest in the Sacred Valley is full of endemic flora waiting to be discovered. Our expert guides are ready to show you how life once was under the rule of the Inca, and how Andean culture in Peru is a living testament to that legacy.

For those looking for treks where few have been, the Cordillera Huayhuash and Huaraz in northern Peru offer spectacular high altitude expeditions deep into the snow-capped Andes.

Another hidden gem is the Peruvian Amazon. Our local partners are pioneers in sustainable tourism in the Amazon and own the only lodge located within the boundaries of the Tambopata Nature Reserve. The lodge started as a research centre for the endangered macaws 30 years ago! Since then, the company has developed two other lodges and work closely with the indigenous Ese Eja community. The area is home to more than 600 species of birds, spider monkeys leaping from tree to tree, capybaras and if you are lucky, you might see a jaguar! They also have a range of nature discovery activities for chidren, which makes the lodges a family-friendly destination.
