Another hidden gem is the Peruvian Amazon. Our local partners are pioneers in sustainable tourism in the Amazon and own the only lodge located within the boundaries of the Tambopata Nature Reserve. The lodge started as a research centre for the endangered macaws 30 years ago! Since then, the company has developed two other lodges and work closely with the indigenous Ese Eja community. The area is home to more than 600 species of birds, spider monkeys leaping from tree to tree, capybaras and if you are lucky, you might see a jaguar!
